Benton Stables The Cataclysm & The War of the Lance The current year for our homebrewed Dragonlance campaign is set during 381AC. Inspired By Trampas Whiteman

The stables are owned by Gentry Benton, an elderly man who has gotten too old to maintain them so he lets his grandson, Samuel Benton handle day to day operations. Mounts and such stabled here are well taken care off and groomed on a regular bases. Gentry and his grandson do not have set rates for stabling mounts, Samuel usually works off of tips since he finds he earns a better living doing business this way.

War of the Darklance "Darkness has fallen over Krynn once again. Thus it has been since the great Cataclysm, when the old world fell. Curse the High Priest of Istar, whose pride caused him to give orders to the True Gods! For the Gods punished Krynn for this blasphemy, and much was forever lost. Lost were the great cities, the accumulated wisdom and knowledge of many generations.

Lost as well was all knowledge of the True Gods, and mankind sank into idolatry. Priests lost their power, and mankind lost hope for its salvation.

But hope always springs from the most modest of causes, and so it was that here in this quiet region in the heart of Abanasinia, a small collection of wandering destinies begin to come together. The year is 381AC or "After Cataclysm", nearly thirty years has passed since the war that raged across Ansalon ended, a war that brought about great change to Krynn.

For many years, peace has ruled the land and trade routes that were once closed have reopened. All across Ansalon people of every race and class exist in a more trusting and less prejudiced land. That is, until recently.

Over the last couple of years things have begun to change, tending more toward the dark and gloomy. Rumors of a new Knighthood dedicated to the dark Queen has arisen, the weather has been erratic and the sun doesn’t seem to shine as brightly from one day to the next.

Ansalon holds many dark and mysterious secrets that have remained hidden for many years. Step then, bold or foolhardy adventurer, into this mystical and dark realm and beware, for little here is as it seems!"

The air surges fierce and sweet, carrying the clear musk smell of the woodlands. The soft murmurs of stirring leaves, insects, and small animals fill the landscape. The clear highland sky blushes with the end of day and fades into starry sleep. If not for the unseasonably cold weather, this might have been the perfect day, nevertheless, this land is home. The companions have lived here all of their lives.

From this rock outcropping the valley below seems peaceful, untouched and beautiful. Dense forests of tall pines carpet the mountainsides, broken only by the thick aspen woods. The mountains, deep blue in the distance, circle the valley floor and form a soft highland bowl.

For these last six months, you and your friends have been escorting merchant caravans between the city of Haven and New Ports. Tonight, you and your companions return to Haven for a well deserved rest and then on to their homes, in the settlement of Ravenvale further south. It will be good to be home once again, to breathe the fresh air of the vale, to look upon the aspens and the mountains once again.

The days have been long and hard but the pay has been good. You and your companions have traveled through forest and wilderness for just over six months earning a meager living. During this time you have heard disturbing stories from the locals . . .

Stories of an invading army that has burned villages to the south and families and friends being put to the sword. Among these stories you hear even darker rumors—that older evils, the dragons themselves, have once again returned to the world, for new and more terrible purposes. The companions can feel the change coming, a change that brings darkness with it . . .

« About Our Adventures »

Welcome everyone. I want to try and educate everyone on exactly what we will be doing in the Dragonlance campaign setting. As most of you already are aware of, Dragonlance "as a campaign setting" has few to no actual official printed adventure modules.

What this does is it forces Dungeon Masters such as myself to have to do one of two things - homebrew or important existing adventure modules into this setting. We have chosen to import existing adventure modules for the most part but I am also sure we will do a little home brewing as well.

Our campaign will consist of multiple imported adventures strung together to create a long lasting campaign. These imported adventure modules will work together to create our War of the Darklance campaign.

Wish us luck because I am sure this will be a challenge.

We are always looking for more like minded players and also Dungeon Masters that would like to play the classic Old-School Essentials game system that will be "dedicated" players & DMs. We have had a rough run here recently not being able to hold onto players due to real life issues. We are all brand spanking new to Old-School Essentials as well in the World of Krynn so if you can tolerate mistakes being made while we learn then please give us a shout out.

Greetings everyone. I would like to extend a warm welcome to you. This blog will cover the Dragonlance campaign setting and its adventures that are being worked on here. We will be using a slightly modified version of Old-School Essentials Advanced Fantasy rules as our primary core rules.
