Grinning Goat Tavern
The Cataclysm & The War of the Lance
The current year for our homebrewed Dragonlance campaign is set during 381AC.
Inspired By Trampas Whiteman
A rundown, dirty, and dangerous watering hole located on the western edge of Haven. It is known for being frequented by the more shadow elements of the city. It is operated by a surly female dwarf named Gristal Kettleton.

Due to the shady individuals supporting this inn, the local government has left this inn operating . . . most folk of Haven simply turn a blind eye to this run down establishment. The building is located at the eastern end of main street, which ends near the White-rage River. It is marked as a tavern by a sign depicting a prone giant and by its porch, which has several empty barrels of ale on display.

The Grinning Goat Tavern is owned by a dwarf named Gristal Kettleton, whose rude demeanor reflects the quality (or lack thereof) of the pub itself. It is the favored watering hole for cruder folk, and caters mostly to local low lifes, drunks and ruffians. The bar is poorly maintained, and townsfolk are known to dissuade visitors from going there. It has a balcony (second floor) for sitting as well.

The Happee Ohgr
The Cataclysm & The War of the Lance
The current year for our homebrewed Dragonlance campaign is set during 381AC.
Inspired By Trampas Whiteman
The Happee Ohgr (a misspelling of "The Happy Ogre") is a tavern located in Haven. The tavern's sign appears to be purposely misspelled, and has a picture of an obviously drunken ogre on the sign. It is a smoky den with drunks in the corners or slumped over sticky tables. The tavern's owner is unknown.

This tavern seems to never have many patrons. It has no rooms for rent and serves low budget meals. The establishment as a whole is not very appealing. This tavern is on the western side of Haven, and sees very little business. Some say this tavern has other things going on besides serving food and drink.

Haven Arms
The Cataclysm & The War of the Lance
The current year for our homebrewed Dragonlance campaign is set during 381AC.
Inspired By Trampas Whiteman

Haven Arms is two-story building set in the center of Haven. The inn has eight guest rooms upstairs with a communal washroom at the very end of the hall and at this time, all rooms are vacant "for the purpose of our campaign". The rooms are clean and comfortable. Although the hall does not contain windows with curtains, each of the rooms has a window. Each room has a comfortable bed, many covers & blankets, a wash stand, chamber pot, towel, pegs for garments, and several chairs and stools.

Alton Toran is a man "in his mid 40's" who is the proprietor of the Black Tiger Inn, that rents out the rooms and seems to manage the inn. He is polite and smiles often to customers, but one can tell he does not tolerate visitors who do not respect the rules of his establishment. He is friendly enough "for the most part" and is always welcoming to those visiting. A redheaded barmaid named Adelaine, rushes from table to table taking orders and going to and from the kitchen in the back to get meals for customers.

Alton Toran, the proprietor of the Haven Arms, came to the city of Haven seeking opportunity in the region, so he established the inn.

The establishment is a nondescript everyday Inn one might find in any city. The main floor in the inn consists mostly of open area filled with tables with chairs and a medium sized bar located along the right side on the main floor as you enter the establishment.

Candles have been place throughout the dining area which keep the bottom floor well lit. Bar stools have been placed at the bar itself. The inn is clean and very well maintained, you can tell he takes great pride in his business. At most times during the day several young ladies can be seen waiting tables.

Prices at the Haven Arms are reasonable and the meals that are prepared here make up for short comings the tavern might have. Choice venison, mutton, poached salmon, stuffed with specially prepared mixtures, goose roasted to a golden brown, pork, steaming sausages, steak and kidney pie with mushrooms or truffles, squab stuffed pheasant and boiled crayfish in drawn butter are just a few of the delights which are served here.

Meals are served on pottery or pewter or copper services according to the customers order. Various leather jacks, pottery mugs, wooden tankards, pewter steins, glass flagons, crystal goblets, or silver chalices are used for the beverages. The locally brewed ale and beer is supplemented by brews from other places, and wine, mead and brandy from all over the region make their way to the boards of the Haven Arms. It is known to have served ale almost as good as Otik Sandath's, and it is known for its scrapple (scraps of port stewed with meal, then pressed into cakes).

(All full meals served with bread and honey, potatoes, and string beans, yams, rum-boiled artichokes, potatoes, and string beans, yams, rum-boiled artichokes, cabbage, carrots, or spinach)

Haven Jail
The Cataclysm & The War of the Lance
The current year for our homebrewed Dragonlance campaign is set during 381AC.
Inspired By Trampas Whiteman

In the far corner from the main gate of the city of Haven sits a large building where the Captain of the Haven Regulars coordinates his detachment of soldiers, and where miscreants serve their sentences. The Haven Captain of the Guard is Rond Kelfem, a serious looking male human around 40 years of age, when on duty he is always dressed smartly in his guard uniform. Golden epaulets and higher quality arms and armor easily make him distinguishable from the common city militia. He commands a small force of guards who keep Haven relatively safe.

The Haven Jail stands at the intersection of Winter Way and Stonehenge Road. The jail is a base for the Haven Regulars and also serves as a barracks for some of the militia themselves. Also a part of the building "in the basement" is the Haven jail itself. The jail also has a rather large armory "which is located in the back of the main floor and very well secured". Usually, four, sometimes six Haven Regulars are present in the watch house at any given time, either hearing public complaints, guarding the jail, or sleeping.

The barracks is located on the second floor containing multiple bunks for sleeping. The jail which is located in the basement has a dozen cells. Each cell is approximately 20 square feet in size.

Mageware Shop
The Cataclysm & The War of the Lance
The current year for our homebrewed Dragonlance campaign is set during 381AC.
Inspired By Trampas Whiteman

The Haven Magewear Ship is a shop located on the north side of Haven. The Magewear Shop is a building of three narrow stories that touches its neighbors on either side. The first floor is built of fitted stones and the upper floors are a lattice of wooden beams with the gaps between them paneled over and plastered with white stucco. The arched door is heavy wood with metal fixtures. Unlike most businesses, there is no sign out front or awning over the first-floor front window.

Every floor of this structure is given over to holding miscellaneous pieces of magical merchandise, most of which are unique, odd, or both. The ground floor contains, among other things, a table with no legs that floats at hip height; a wicker basket that contains a collection of old robes for sale; and a flagstone with a claw imprint set into the floor.

On the second floor are various chests, weapons, pieces of furniture, and potion bottles - none of which are magical. Here also is a standing mirror that was once a portal to a small number of other locations. Unfortunately, the destination changed at random times and noone knew all the possible destinations it had randomly changed to, over the years the mirror has stopped working all together but is kept around for sentimental value.

The third floor is not off-limits to customers and contains many items, but it was also where current owner Jesticus of the Red Robes sleeps. The cellar has a low ceiling and is lined with stone. Jesticus keeps barrels, boxes, and sheaves of alchemical components here, as well as some food provisions. Usually concealed by a large barrel is a loose flagstone that covered a dirt tunnel to a second cellar where he keeps items that might have raised questions from the local authorities. Things like body parts and magical creature corpses are stored here and magically preserved against decay. There is also a set of chains to hold a prisoner, if necessary.

This Magewear Shop has the feel of a curio shop with a dash of danger. It is dimly lit by his floating candelabra (an animated object that appears to be constructed from a scaly claw) and many clouds of twinkling stars (a variation of continual flame that he calls everstars).

The only items that Jesticus constantly keeps in stock are a small amount potions and his brand of light stones (hand-sized stone rods enchanted with continual flame covered in a two-part stone sheath that slid apart); everything else is a bit unpredictable. Most items are strange with an odd set of powers because the common, useful items tended to sell quickly. For example, a set of enchanted daggers did not stay in his inventory long, whereas furniture that spoke whenever you moved it had to wait for a particular type of buyer. Prices ranged from 600 gp to 200,000 gp with the average being around 5,000 gp. He once had access to a wide variety of spellbooks and could create a scroll of most any spell up to his level of mastery. These he sold long ago.

Magical items of any importance will not be found here. Customers may find a very limited amount of Potions of Heals "for game purposes 1d4". Most magical items that are sold here are mostly oddities that are of no real value.

River Harbor
The Cataclysm & The War of the Lance
The current year for our homebrewed Dragonlance campaign is set during 381AC.
Inspired By Trampas Whiteman
The harbor of Haven is the largest and busiest port in Abanasinia. It is able to occommodate even the largest of ships.

Along the city, its harbor was inset within a natural bay that formed off of the White-rage River making the city of Haven the focal point for most of the trade within the region. Massive in size and scope . . . rivaling even some of the larger cities of old throughout Ansalon, the harbor features multiple large mechanical cranes that are used to load and unload cargoes onto and from ships.

Due to the city's receptive nature and business-first mentality, a variety of cargo passes through the docks of the city from throughout Abanasinia.

Haven Cemetary
The Cataclysm & The War of the Lance
The current year for our homebrewed Dragonlance campaign is set during 381AC.
Inspired By Trampas Whiteman

In the center of the Haven, on the highest hill within the city stands a massive long closed cathedral: a gigantic structure of stone that stands in the center of the cemetary itself, and it reaches fifty feet up into the air. Even though this structure is no longer used, it still has a magical light that appears right after dark which shines over the cemetary until the sun returns each morning. The cathedral sits within a large grove which makes up the city cemetary.

Legend has it that if one were to pledge his or her love to someone while standing on the main platform within the cathedral they would magically fall in love with them. This was no small feat since the cathedral is always closely guarded "being the noble cathedral of Haven that it once was" by the city watch.

The seemingly harmless legend turned deadly one night when a young maiden named Isadel braved the eerie night time glow of the cemetery in order to properly speak her loved one’s name so that they may be eternal. She climbed to the top of the cathedral near the everglowing night time light so that she could both stay out of sight of the nearby city watch and bodly pledge her devotion to her love’s name highest that has ever been done. Unfortunately for Isadel, when she nearly completed her task, she slipped and fell from her high up perch at the top of the cathedral and fell to her death upon a magnificent grave stone resting near the structure.

When Isadel let go of her last breath upon the grave of a stranger a dark energy burst into existence that cursed the poor girls soul to forever haunt the grove that surrounds the ancient cathedral. And through the generations, as her spirit wandered the dark, people learned to fear the area so much in fact that bordering neighborhoods became vacant over time for no one could live peacefully with the spirit’s dark love songs dancing on the winds of the night.

Haven Grand Market
The Cataclysm & The War of the Lance
The current year for our homebrewed Dragonlance campaign is set during 381AC.
Inspired By Trampas Whiteman

An open-air market that takes up nearly half of the southern quarter of Havens walls. The High Market is where traders from far away lands, and locals as well, come to trade coin and wares in exchange for fine furs, herbs, and rare woods gathered from the Countryside with the locals. A unique feature of the High Market is its inclusion of a public bathhouse and a privy area on the eastern side. While fun to browse it is rarely of interest to adventuring folk.

Farmers sell produce, hunters hawk smoked meats, villagers sell crafts, and sometimes a trader from distant locations sells implements or costly goods.

"On any given day, there is a 50% chance that items from the adventuring gear list in the Player’s Handbook are available for sale here." Adventurers will almost never find armor, weapons, implements, or magic items in the market square, however.

Gateway
The Cataclysm & The War of the Lance
The current year for our homebrewed Dragonlance campaign is set during 381AC.
Inspired By Trampas Whiteman

A town of around 500 and was built in the turbulent years following the Cataclysm. It was a gathering spot for refuges as it was situated on a crossroad. As refuges flocked into the area, they began to settle in the secure location. With traffic flowing from all over the area, the refuges began to build structures to meet the needs.

Within a generation the settlement was known to travelers as the gateway into Abanasia from the south. The major difference is that it has none of the mighty Vallenwood trees, so the town was constructed on the ground. The settlement was first called Gateway in 21 AC by the Mayor Pellanis Corvus at a town council. With a growing market the town was well becoming prosperous. It was during this period that a group called the Seekers began to arrive in the area. The Seekers were a group of former clerics who had begun to establish schools in the villages of Abanasia. They were trying to help rebuild the area and provide guidance to the population.

Over the course of the next 200 hundred years the town steadily grew in its population. One of the main disadvantages of the community was that it had built its buildings on the ground rather than neighboring Solace. This led to major raids every twenty years which resulted in mass destruction of the village.

In 289 AC the Seekers began to instill themselves more into the government of the town. Within a few years the town council was dominated by those associated with the Seeker faith. As the community began to become more focused on the religion changes began to creep in. Once where travelers were once welcomed with open arms now they were questioned in the community. The Seeker religion drove many to seek new areas to trade.

The small community of Gateway was founded in Abanasinia during the first years of the Age of Despair, at roughly the same time as the fledgling hamlet of Solace.

The town is more of a crossroads than anything else, lying east of Solace, at the base of the Sentinel Peaks and Gateway Pass.

It is also located along the White-Rage River. Similar in many respects to Solace itself, the major difference is that all of the town shops are situated on the ground rather than in the trees. Gateway is governed by an elected mayor.

During the War of the Lance, Gateway was one of the bases for the Seeker religion and was ruled by a High Theocrat, however it has long since returned to the original democratic system. During the same war, the city was sacked by the Red Dragonarmy. This once thriving market town was reduced to ruins, and was later liberated.

The overall community is very friendly and hospitable to outsiders. Outsiders traveling through this quiet town is the main source of outside news and information that is brought into the town. Gateway is very well kept and it structures are sturdy ... mostly made of stone and wood.

The roads are paved in gravel and well maintained. Law enforcement in Gateway consists of a small, well armed town guards that patrol on a regular bases, even "at times" outside the towns borders to keep watch of the nearby hills and mountains for any hostile entities that might cause trouble for the town.
